Abstract
In order to prevent accidents in underground coal mining, the authors consider a new design of the powered roof support section based on the concept of its interaction with the geomechanical processes within the rock mass, namely, in the thermodynamic equilibrium envelope. The novelty of this development as compared to similar domestic and foreign designs is that the support-rock mass geomechanical system is brought into an equilibrium state, which increases the safety of mining operations in the production face.
