Abstract
Recently, more and more mining and design companies have shown their interest in creating geological block models of coal deposits. The article provides a brief description of the current state of the issue, considers the process of creating three-dimensional models of stratal bodies and determining the optimal boundaries of open pit mining using the Micromine mining and geological information system. The author presents the experience of defending the assessment of coal deposits based on block models by SGP company in the State Commission on Mineral Reserves. Further steps are proposed for the transition from traditional methods of reserves assessment to digital ones.
