On Layer-by-Layer Extraction of Flat Thick Beds
Abstract
Layer-by-layer extraction of 8 m thick bed is more efficient as compared to the single layer one, ensuring work face load increase by 1,4-1,6 times with less power supply capacity of complexes by 1,14 times and lesser mass of complexes by 1,4 times, expected safety of second working is by 8-10 times higher the level of parameters of 2012. Layer-by-layer extraction of beds with thickness exceeding 8 m is more efficient and safer as compared to coal extraction with discharge from underroof rock mass, ensuring possibility of transition to use of complexes and units with automated control system reducing lethal injuries.

Continuity of Priorities
Abstract
The expiring year turned out to be not easy for the coal industry. Continuing tendency of fall in demand and coal prices set new problems before the Russian subsoil users. Issues of improvement of production programmes’ efficiency and skills to react promptly to market changes became the key ones. Solving these problems, Kuzbassrazrezugol, one of the largest coal corporations in Russia, continues its programme of production modernization and development of benefication capacities, thus maintaining coal extraction volumes. At the same time, even in the conditions of specific market, the company acts as innovator in the field of technical equipment, industrial safety and labour protection.

Coal Industry Innovations and Development Strategies
Summary of XVI Kuzbass International Coal Forum – “Expo-Ugol 2013”
Abstract
On October 8 to 11 in Kemerovo the Kuzbass International Coal Forum “Expo-Ugol 2013” was held. It’s now the fifteenth year that this specialized congress and exhibition event has been held within the framework of a joint project of the Administration of Kemerovo region and that of Kemerovo backed by the Ministry of Energy of Russia, Chamber of Commerce of Russia, large scientific centers and mining engineering companies in terms of organization efforts. The XVI international specialized coal technology fair “Expo Ugol”, the XIII specialized coal sale fair “Coal Supplies and Sales”; XV international theoretical and practical conference «Energy Safety of Russia: new approaches to coal industry development” presents of the forum. The article provides an overview of participants and exhibits of the Expo-Ugol exhibition and some information about a scientific and business program of the forum.

During this period, at coal facilities there were no fire events, explosions or emergencies due to the use of explosives of such safety class at all.

Analysis of Results of Stand and Mine Study of Technical Possibilities of
Powered Roof Support with Coal Discharge from Under Roof Rock Mass
Abstract
The article describes laboratory and mine study on determination of technical possibility of powered roof support with location of discharge opening near working face for coal extraction in thick flat and sloping beds of Kuagning mine field (Vietnam). The stand and mine study results allow to substantiate design roof support values, and improve efficiency of its use in different process flows during underground extraction of thick coal beds.
