On Activities Related to Efficient and Safe Heading of Flat Callows
Abstract
The article considers the activities related to technology and technique of callow extraction: single-layer, layer by layer and with drawing of underroof coal mass. In mines of Russia it is recommended to use: for the coal beds of up to 7-8 m thick – single-layer extraction, as the most efficient and safe; for favorable conditions of coal extraction, low methane content and freedom from coal ignitability in beds of over 7-8 m thick – coal extraction with drawing on face conveyer; in future – continuation of the search for layer by layer extraction, as a safer one as compared to coal drawing.

Design, Replacement and Measurement of Long Range Tubular Conveyor Belt
Capacity at Western Arch Coal Skyline Mine (USA)
Abstract
This paper describes the design and procedure of replacing a tubular belt conveyor BC-08 at Arch Western Coal Skyline Mine near the town of Helper, Utah (USA). Also, it analyzes the results of measurements of the conveying capacity taken during the belt commissioning and after its run-in. The Skyline BC-08 tubular conveyor is at an altitude of about 3500 meters above sea level. The distance between the pulley centers is 3414 m, feed height is 172 m, outer diameter of tubular belt is about 452 mm. This tubular conveyor has 22 sharp swings on the horizontal plane and 45 sharp swings on the vertical plane. Tubular BC-08 conveyor feeds coal with mass capacity rate of 1270 t / h (metric tons per hour) from production site down to railroad loading facilities. Before ThyssenKrupp Robins, Inc., Denver, CO (TKRI) had become a selected bidder for construction of a tubular conveyor, the trucks were used for coal transportation. Due to coal transportation using a tubular conveyor, the efficiency of maintenance and operation has significantly increased.
