Abstract

The article analyzes existing mathematical models of the stress-strain state of fractured gas-bearing porous coal seams. It has been established that current mathematical models take into account the stress field in microstructural components and the gas pressure in gas-filled pores. However, stresses caused by gas compressibility and the fracturing of the coal seam are not considered. As a result, the actual stress field is distorted, although it is one of the key factors influencing coal extraction. To address this problem, a mathematical model is proposed that accounts for gas compressibility in pores, during which heat is released and thermal stress arises. When constructing the model, it is shown that different types of gases in pores can be treated as ideal gases, since their compressibility factor is close to one. An example calculation of the additional thermal stress during methane compression under given initial parameters is presented.
