Abstract

In the Russian Federation the procedure for investigating occupational accidents is regulated by legal acts, and the employer is responsible for conducting the investigation. Despite the accumulated experience in conducting accident investigations and the increase in funding for occupational safety measures over the past five years statisti cal data from Rosstat and the Social Fund of Russia show an increase in occupational injuries, including an increase in the number of concealed accidents. Various methods and approaches are used to reduce occupational injuries, but the quality of the investigation of existing accidents is crucial for preventing future incidents. Despite this, over the past five years, similar causes of accidents have been identified through accident investigations, and similar corrective measures have been developed. All of this indicates the ineffectiveness of the accident investigation procedure, which leads to repeated accidents. This article provides an analysis of occupational injuries and identifies the factors that affect the effectiveness of accident investigations, taking into account the importance of these components.
