Abstract
The article presents the results of studying the cumulative environmental damage caused by coal mining within the Donetsk coal basin in three coal-producing regions in the southern part of the Russian Federation. The types, number, and areas of man-made terrain features formed in the course of coal mining activities are revealed. Complex measures are proposed to accelerate restoration of the environmental balance in the territory of the mine waste dumps.
