Abstract

The article is dedicated to the Soviet movement of the second half of the 1930s – the Stakhanov movement. It became one of the largest socio-economic and ideological campaigns in Soviet history. However, despite numerous studies of this phenomenon, there is still no unified understanding of it in the academic community due to its multifaceted nature and ambiguity. The article presents the main positions that have emerged in historiography regarding the assessment of the origins and significance of the Stakhanov movement. The author explores the prerequisites and conditions for its formation and development. Particular attention is paid to the personality of the miner Alexei Grigorievich Stakhanov, whose achievement became a symbol of a new stage in the development of the Soviet economy. The author emphasizes that the Stakhanovite movement played an important role in shaping a new work ethic, served as a powerful tool for propaganda and mobilization of labor, and made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet industry. The practices of labor heroism and patriotic self-sacrifice developed within the framework of this movement proved especially relevant during the Great Patriotic War.
