Abstract
The article presents the results of studying the environmental state of lands disturbed in the course of coal mining using surface and underground methods in the coalbearing areas of the Moscow region coal basin in the territory of the Ryazan Region. The areas of mine spoil piles have been identified. Complex activities are proposed to accelerate the recovery of the environmental balance on the mine spoil piles by applying loose Quaternary rocks with the thickness of at least one meter and sowing leguminous and cereal grasses. An assessment was made of the increase in agricultural efficiency through elimination of the mine spoil piles.
