Abstract

The Moscow region coal basin is one of the oldest in Russia. Reliable information about him dates back to 1701, related to the activities of Tula and Ural gunsmiths Demidov, who provided for the needs of the army and navy. Currently, there is no commercial extraction of brown coal at the Mosbass deposits, so they remain an "energy storehouse". At one time, this basin played a significant role in the development of the Central Economic Region of the USSR. If necessary, it is always possible to proceed to the restoration of Mosbass capacities, for example, in the case of a global rise in the price of natural gas. In addition, the Moscow Mass Media has a heroic history associated with the Great Patriotic War, so an appeal to its past is most appropriate on the 80th anniversary of the Victory over the Nazi invaders. However, the special energy importance of the Mosbass during the period of state and legal instability began to manifest itself from the second half of the 19th century, and this article is devoted to this.
