Abstract
The article presents the results of studying the technological and technical aspects of surface mining operations at coal deposits in the States of Maharashtra and Telangana in India. Remote sensing studies and analytical calculations revealed the num ber of mining and haulage machines working in the coal pits, as well as determined the annual volume of overburden and coal excavation and transportation. Satellite observations revealed a stable trend of surface coal mining in the surveyed states.
