Abstract
This article discusses the state of the world coal market. Volumes of coal production are determined globally. The current state of the Russian coal market is also considered, the prospects for the Russian to integrate into the world coal market are defined. An analysis of the coal industry in the Russian Federation is provided. The world coal market is analyzed. The main challenges that the coal industry is currently facing in its development are described, and the government measures aimed at the development of the industry are discussed. The relevance is confirmed by the importance of the coal industry development in the interests of the national security of the country.
