Abstract
The article analyzes the business models of the circular economy in relation to coal mining enterprises. The authors argue the conclusion that in the resources-extractive regions of Russia, the transition from a linear model of the economy to a circular one is possible in case of transformation of the existing business models of coal mining companies. It is shown that the business models of the circular economy, coupled with the concept of rent, in a new way ensure the social and economic efficiency of coal enterprises, necessary for the sustainable development of the region. Therefore, rent is proposed to be considered as the basis for the efficiency of the circular economy in the sphere of Russian subsoil use and, thereby, as the foundation for the sustainable development of the country’s economy as a whole.
