Abstract

The paper presents the results of analysing mine observations of the balanced packer operation with polyurethane sealing elements and the results of bench testing of these sealing elements made as hollow cylinders for their stability under axial compression. Theoretical calculations of the deformation characteristics of tubular cylindrical polyurethane seals force-fitted on a steel rod and subjected to uniaxial compression are given on the basis of these tests.
