Abstract

The main part of accumulated waste on the territory of Russia is represented by tailings of mining, enrichment and processing of minerals, which can be classified as man-made raw materials containing rare and rare earth elements. Heap leaching is traditionally used to extract valuable elements, the content of which is significantly lower than in traditional raw materials, during which technical problems may arise due to poor permeability of the stack. To solve this problem, it is proposed to carry out granulation of the source material. The optimal granulation conditions were identified in order to obtain the highest granule strength and the lowest binder consumption, which is an important criterion for transporting and preparing materials for heap leaching. The granulometric composition was studied for the obtained granules. It was found that with a binder consumption of 21 ml per 100 g of raw materials, it is possible to obtain granules with the highest strength.
