Abstract
One of the significant problems of public administration of regions is that objective statistical indicators, on the basis of which regional policy and its tools are developed, may in many ways not coincide with the subjectively perceived quality of life for the population. From this point of view, the research, the purpose of which is to identify existing problems in the life of the population of the Arctic old industrial region and directions for their resolution through the comparison of subjective assessments of the life quality and objective characteristics of socio-economic development, is of particular relevance and practical significance. The research has been carried out using materials from the Murmansk region - the region with an established social and industrial infrastructure, established life support processes, the territory of which is entirely located in the Arctic zone of Russia.
