Abstract
Coal is one of Tajikistan's primary energy sources, and a comprehensive understanding of the industry is crucial for policymakers, investors, and academics interested in the country's energy sector. This article provides an overview of Tajikistan's coal industry – examining the current state of the coal industry as well as the challenges facing the country in terms of coal production, distribution, and use. In addition, the article assesses the potential contribution of the industry to Tajikistan's economic development. The paper analyzes both the domestic coal industry and its relationship to the broader global coal market. The contribution of the coal sector to the production of electricity both for local consumption and for export to neighboring countries is demonstrated.
