Abstract
The introduction of anti-Russian sanctions had a negative impact on the development of the Russian coal market: by the end of 2022, coal production and export volumes decreased, logistics costs increased, and the cost of production increased. In these conditions, not only measures of state support for coal companies and the search for new sales markets are becoming particularly relevant, but also the study of market mechanisms that reduce the key risks of the industry. In the article, under the prism of the implementation of the task of creating Russian price indices, the prospects of exchange trading in coal futures contracts are considered.
