Abstract

The paper reviews specific features of increasing spatial polarization of regions under the impact of coal mining operations. It presents the results of quantitative measurements of spatial patterns in inequality distribution in the environmental, social, infrastructural and economic spheres. Directions for mitigation of the spatial nonuniformity, significant and growing disparities between the regions with coal-mining companies are offered.
